Nutrition

Staying fit and staying healthy are the two key components for runners to be able to sustain themselves throughout the training process and prepare for upcoming races. To help participants prepare for the Memorial Day Marathon Races, we have partnered with Joy Bauer of The Today Show on NBC as our Official Nutrition and Training Partner.

Joy Bauer, a nationally recognized nutrition expert will be providing nutrition tips to race participants throughout the training season. Additionally, Joy will be the host of our pre-race pasta dinner event at the Red Lion Inn on Saturday, May 25th. Customized Training Programs

Designed by ex-Army combat veteran, running coach and personal trainer Nathan Figg, this course will best prepare you for the hills specific to our races.  After closely studying the terrain and contours of our course, Nathan has put together this 12 week package, fully customizable for your target race pace.

Whether you’re a beginner in need of guidance, or an experienced runner with a specific race time in mind, this program can be tailored to your exact needs. 

The training guide contains day by day instructions for pace, heart rate, mileage and incline.  The easy to follow charts will take the thinking out of your daily routine, so you can simply strap on your running shoes and get going.

The guide consists of a two pdf’s.  The first is a training guide with explanations of Nathan’s method, while the second is your own customized daily training instructions. 

Bio:

The founder of Styrka Fitness, Nathan Figg, has been involved in the health and fitness industry for many years in the NYC area. Through Nathan’s experiences in the Military for 6 years, Personal Training, participation in Triathlons and coaching Running coach, he has developed a strong client base and presence in the industry as a coach and competitor. 

Nathan joined the military after 9/11 serving tours in Iraq and Kuwait. During combat tours Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, Specialist Nathan Figg earned awards such as the Army Achievement Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Medal.
